The Partnership's core organizational focus is to ensure the health and success of Henderson County's existing industries. Since 1994, existing industries account for 91% of all new, taxable investment and 80% of all newly created positions. Over 6,000 Henderson County residents benefit from employment at 135 manufacturers, accounting for a payroll in excess of $250 million annually and an average annual wage of $44,000.
HCPED is an advocate for industry, and our driving organizational priority is to make sure that you are healthy and free from challenges that might prevent your success and growth. Henderson County is committed as well, and has backed that by streamlining government processes including permitting, planning, rezoning, infrastructure extensions, inspections, etc. We can help facilitate any of these issues with you and appropriate county staff.
The resources in the left column have been gathered to help the businesses and industries that already have a presence here. While these resources may point you in a helpful direction, we much prefer to have the opportunity to visit with you face-to-face. During the 2008-09 fiscal year, we had 122 direct interactions with existing industries on a variety of issues. During the same time period we had 36 Industrial Retention & Expansion Visitations, which is a more intensive visit, typically including a customized team of persons.
In June 2009 we launched the Henderson County Industrial Products & Suppliers Directory, focused on connecting procurement decision makers with local sourcing options. The directory features profiles for the 135 manufacturers in Henderson County, which can be referenced via SIC, NAICS, employment range, geography, etc.
Henderson County Planning Director, Anthony Starr, has developed a flow chart for planning and inspection processes. This chart in addition to the Permit Center are a great place to start in determining how your plans and projects will move forward.
