On Tuesday, August 3rd, HCPED is hosting a seminar to help Henderson County employers understand the implications, costs and deadlines associated with Health Care Reform. David Smith, former policy advisor to Lt. Gov. Dennis Wicker and Past President of the NC Association of Health Underwriters will guide attendees through the employer implementation timelines, grandfathered plans, the small business tax credit, and many other critical components to this legislation. The seminar is ideal for small business owners as well as HR personnel at large employers. Thanks to BB&T and Morrow Insurance for their sponsorship of this seminar!

The Health Care Reform Seminar will be held at Blue Ridge Community College’s Technology Education and Development Center on Tuesday, August 3rd. Registration will begin at 8:30 am, program from 9:00 – 11:00 am, and question and answer period through 12:00 noon. The event is open to all manufacturers in Henderson County as well as Members and Investors in the Partnership. Please RSVP to let us know you will be attending.
The seminar will focus on employer implementation timelines, including changes effective at the start of each year through 2018. The “big year” for changes is 2014. David will also focus on what makes a grandfathered plan, who is grandfathered, what exemptions follow and how to retain status as grandfathered. He will also cover who is eligible for the Small Business Tax Credit as part of Health Care Reform. David will go over high risk pools, reinsurance for early retirees, “older” dependant children coverage, the Cadillac tax and will answer any questions that you might have.
